Breakout Sessions

Meet, mix, share, and collaborate with expert facilitators and peers during our 60-minute breakout sessions. Together we will “dive deep” into critical topics driving today’s most innovative practices.

Growing Resilience Through Your Support Network

Kerrie Carl - Adult & Youth Educator

Learn about and experience the correlation between your Web of Support (protective factors and learning supports) and your effectiveness in the classroom, connection to students, personal and professional satisfaction, and professional longevity. The eye-opening results and corresponding strategies will help you build resilience, reduce compassion fatigue, and promote wellness.

The Neurosequential Model is Your New Power Tool!

Angela Harris - Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Phase 2 Trainer, Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics©

The Neurosequential Model (NMT)©, developed by Dr. Bruce Perry, is a framework for understanding children (and adults) in a developmentally sensitive and neurobiologically informed way. This session will expand your knowledge of the Intimacy Barrier, an individual threshold of relational interaction influenced by one’s relational history. You will apply gained knowledge to provide attuned, intentional relational interactions that respect individual boundaries. You will learn tips that can assist with understanding an individual’s intimacy barrier and respectful ways to engage, increasing the opportunity for relationships to buffer adversity.

Transforming Teens: From Chaos to Calm

Dante Huffine and Amanda Blankenship - Youth Development Specialists

The best advocates in our schools are our students. In this session, we will learn and practice techniques we use to teach neuroscience to teenagers in ways that they understand what is happening in their brains. We will also experience some new and in-depth ways of teaching the Full-Color Webs of Support™ story so that teenagers can teach it to others in their Webs.

Prioritizing Your Life: What’s Your Why?

Steven Marten - Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor

We often have conversations about work/life balance. Educators especially discuss this because our jobs continue long past the “end of the work day.” The problem with work/life balance is that it seems like a goal to attain. Instead, it is more about prioritizing your time and how you spend it. Rather than a goal, it is an ongoing process. There will always be something else “to do.” We will work together to discover proven, easy-to implement strategies to prioritize your time to live your best life.
